Dr. Ariño is PhD in Management, University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), M.B.A. IESE, University of Navarra. B.S. in Economics and Business Administration, Universitat de Barcelona.
She specializes in strategic alliances, particularly in their structural design, process issues and evolutionary aspects of the inter-partner relationship.
Prof. Ariño is the Academic Director of the Globalization and Strategy Research Center at IESE.
She is an Associate Editor of the Global Strategy Journal, and serves or has served at various other Editorial Boards such the Strategic Management Journal and the Journal of International Business Studies.
Her most recent articles include “The role of fairness in alliance formation,” (Strategic Management Journal, 2010); “Alliance dynamics for entrepreneurial firms,” (Journal of Management Studies, 2008) “Strategic Alliance Contracts: Dimensions and Determinants of Contractual Complexity,” (Strategic Management Journal, 2007); “Entrepreneurial Alliances as Contractual Forms” (Journal of Business Venturing, 2006); She is also a co-author of the book “Entrepreneurial Alliances” and has co-edited two other books.
Prof. Ariño has presented her research at annual conferences sponsored by the Academy of International Business, the Academy of Management, and the Strategic Management Society, among other outlets.
